Athletes of the Week: 09/28

Varsity Football: Connor Davies - Sophomore - Defensive Back

Conner is becoming a lockdown corner who refuses to take a play off, he has continued to get better, tougher, and more confident every single week. This week Connor totaled 10 total tackles from the Cornerback position.  And the best part? He’s not just making plays - his work ethic is relentless, and he is becoming a leader. The standard keeps going up. And every day, Connor is becoming the kind of player his teammates can count on when it’s time to compete

Varsity Cheer: Addison McKneely

Addison has shown SO much growth this season, not only in her skills but in her leadership! She has become such an important part of our stunt groups and truly is the glue that holds them together. She is always willing to step in, help others learn new positions, and encourage her teammates along the way. Addison, your growth, patience, and willingness to lead do not go unnoticed! We are so proud of you.

Varsity Cross Country: Ian Cadet

Ian quickly puts in the work, and it showed this last weekend. He scored his Personal Best time at the Konos Flyover Cross Country Meet in Fayetteville. He gets better every day.

Varsity Softball: Ava Norsworthy

Ava had a BIG week at the plate this week going 5 for 9 with a walk for an average of .714. Ava had five hits, two of which were doubles, five RBI's, stole two bases and scored two runs. Additionally, she was perfect on defense with a .1000 fielding percentage. Great job Ava! We are proud of you.

Varsity Volleyball: Charity Johnson - Senior Captain and Right-side Hitter #1

Charity played her heart out this week during our Tattnall and Central Fellowship matches. One of our middles was out sick and couldn't play, so Charity stepped up and filled her spot. In the midst of playing a position she doesn't typically practice; she was the highest scoring hitter for the Tattnall game. She led in hitting percentage and kills, got a stuff block, and served several aces as well. Charity brought a fire to our team and a sense of urgency to every play she was a part of this week. She helped us finish our regular season with tenacity and heart

The Herzog Foundation Honors Mandy Colwell

Strong Rock Christian School is proud to congratulate Mrs. Mandy Colwell, who was honored this weekend as a 2026 Christian Teacher of the Year by the Herzog Foundation. Mrs. Colwell was one of just 12 educators from across the country selected for this prestigious national honor.

The Herzog Foundation, which works to advance quality, Christ-centered K–12 education, hosted its Excellence in Christian Education Awards in Kansas City, Missouri, where Mrs. Colwell received professional development and public recognition.

Mrs. Colwell’s innovative teaching practice centers around an activity she calls “Prove It.” In her 5th grade science and history classes, she encourages students to examine topics from both biblical and secular perspectives and then use Scripture to support their conclusions. The approach gives students an opportunity to apply their biblical knowledge while developing critical-thinking and analytical skills.

With 20 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Colwell has dedicated her career to helping students learn and grow. She was also named Strong Rock’s Teacher of the Year for the 2025–26 school year.

We are grateful for Mrs. Colwell’s dedication, creativity, and commitment to her students. Congratulations, Mrs. Colwell, on this well-deserved national honor!

Strong Rock Students Receive National Recognition

Strong Rock Christian School proudly announces that two of its students have been named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Bailey Knight and Milan Patel, both seniors, placed among the top four-percent of students who entered the competition. Scores were generated from the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“Bailey and Milan are hardworking students who excel in the classroom and in their extracurricular activities,” said Toby Evans, Strong Rock High School Principal. “Their dedication, time management, and commitment to success are qualities that truly stand out.”

The mission of NMSC is to recognize and honor academically talented students in the U.S.

5th Grade Leader of the Week

The Leader of the Week reminds us when Jesus said "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full."  John 15:11.  Her joy overflows in her attitude, her work ethic, and how she treats other.  When she walks into a room, you can feel her joy - what a blessing to everyone who knows her!

Our Leader of the Week is Dallas Epps!
