Strong Rock Christian School strives to partner with parents and students to support their learning needs. Our teachers and curriculum are rigorous and thorough. Each classroom emphasizes differentiated instruction to meet learning needs. However, some students benefit for services beyond the classroom. Learning Lab offers the next step in learning through academic support services without lowering the academic excellence provided at SRCS. Rather, our program provides support through monitoring progress, academic coaching, learning strategies, and teaching of skills. At the same time, we strive to offer enrichment services to offer students the opportunity to pursue enrichment beyond the classroom curriculum to encourage the gifted learner to meet their highest potential. PEP provides instructional experiences focused on units of study to encourage problem solving, higher level thinking skills, deductive reasoning, and creativity. Students must qualify under the Learning Lab’s PEP guidelines to be eligible for the program.
Dr. Gilreath had the opportunity to partner with SRCS as the Learning Lab program first began in the 2010-2011 school year. Dr. Gilreath is passionate about helping students identify the way they learn to help them in their academic success and meet their highest potential. Dr. Gilreath has a doctorate degree in Education with a focus in Leadership and Educational Psychology. She also has teaching experience in both Gifted and Special Education. Dr. Gilreath is state certified in gifted education.
Mrs. Brewer is a Learning Lab Specialist with our PASS program at SRCS. Her educational experiences involve both the regular classroom and special education. She enjoys the opportunity to work one-on-one with the students in their efforts to reach their academic goals. Working in the Learning Lab gives her the opportunity to be a liaison between parent, teacher, and student as both a mentor and a learning coach to the students. She is a great advocate of learning styles and brain based learning
Mrs. Waggoner is a Learning Lab Specialist with our PASS program at SRCS. She has an education background in special education. Mrs. Waggoner is often known as “coach” to many of our students as she is an active motivator in many athletic areas for our students and a great motivator in their academics. Mrs. Waggoner works to get to know each student and their own learning style to make their learning goals achievable.
Mr. Holland is a Learning Lab Specialist in our Learning Lab program’s including both PEP (Patriot Enrichment Program) and PASS (Patriot Academic Support Services). His enthusiasm for learning is truly contagious. His devotion to students and professional experiences add a great deal to the program. He has had a vast array of academic experiences in both special education, math, science, and gifted education. Mr. Holland is state certified in gifted education. Mr. Holland is an advocate for his students. He is continuously encouraging them to foster a love and excitement for learning as successful students.
